BUSINESS AFFAIRS
Supporing the HKSAR’s
Administration in Accordance with the Basic Law
Staying in Communication with the SARG
In June, the Association held a dinner party for
the Honourable Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, with
attendance of most Executive Directors of the Association. On the
party, both sides exchanged views on related social and economic
issues. The Honourable Donald Tsang acknowledged suggestion of
Chinese enterprises and expressed his appreciation of continuous
support from the Association. He also assured that he would stay in
close contact with the Association.
The Association’s leaders also paid visits to
related departments of the SARG, such as Commerce, Industry and
Technology Bureau, Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau,
Central Policy Unit, Department of Industry and Trade, Innovation
and Technology Commission, Invest Hong Kong, and Trade Development
Council as well as the Independent Commissioner of Anti-Corruption,
etc., to discuss how to further develop closer cooperative relations
and provide services for Chinese enterprises operating in Hong Kong.
The Conversazione with Secretary for Financial
Services and the Treasury on the Budget 2006/2007
On 23 November, Secretary of Financial Services
and the Treasury held a conversazione with the Association and
Chinese enterprises for in-taking comments on the Budget 2006/2007.
Mr. Gao Yingxin, Vice Chairman of the Assciation attended the event
with several representatives of Chinese enterprises.
Commenting on other Legal and Policy
Consultative Documents
In 2006, the Association actively involved in the
policy consultation both at the level the SARG and the Central
People’s Government. The main legal and policy documents on which
the Association made comments include:
-Adjusting the added-value tax-rebate on certain
exporting goods and the list of prohibited categories of goods for
processing trade
- Labour Protection Law of the PRC (Draft);
- Rules of Promotion of Employment of the
Disabled of the PRC (Draft);
- Policy Address by Chief Executive of the HKSAR;
- The proposed standing of the HKSARG on the new
round of negotiations of trade in services within the framework of
the WTO;
- The repositioning and development strategies of
the Start-ups Chip of HKEx;
- The Companies (Revision of Accounts and
Reports) Provisions;
- The white paper of the competition policy of
the HKSARG;
Industrial and Liaison
Activies
Co-hosting the
Reception in Celebration of the 57th
Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC by Compatriots of Commercial
and Industrial Circles of HK
At the end of September, the Association and
other main chambers of commerce co-hosted a grand reception in
celebration of the 57th anniversary of the founding the
PRC, and invited Mr. Gao Siren, Director of the Liaison Office of
the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, the Honourable Donald
Tsang, Mr. Lu Xinhua, Commissioner of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the PRC in the HKSAR to officiate the function. Hundreds of
prominent figures showed up and they were joined by the
Association’s Chairman Dr. Qin Xiao and some representatives of
Chinese enterprises.
Joint Delegation to the Expo Central China
2006
In September, the Association and the Chinese
General Chamber of Commerce jointly organized a delegation to the
Expo Central China 2006. Ms Guo Li, Vice Director of the Liaison
Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR was invited
to join the delegation as senior advisor. And the Association’s Vice
Chairman Mr. Wang Liaoping, Executive Director Mr. Sun Zhongren and
Mr. Zhu Qi participated in the activities of the delegation in
Changsha with other members.
The 10th Symposium on Economic
Cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong
On 15 November, the 10th Symposium on
Economic Cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong opened in Hong
Kong. It’s an event co-organized by the Association, Hong Kong Trade
Development Council and other main chambers of commerce. The
honourable Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Mr. Wang
Qishan, Mayor of Beijing Municipal People’s Government, and the
Association’s Chairman Dr. Qin Xiao, Vice Chairman Mr. Yi Xiqun, Mr.
Liu Guoyuan, Mr. Wang Liaoping, Treasurer Mr. Lam Kwong Siu,
Executive Director Mr. Yuen Mo attended the opening ceremony
together with hundreds of officials, academicians, and prominent
figures of industrial and commercial circles. The symposium
consisted of a variety of events, including a briefing on the
preparation of the Olympic Games 2008 Beijing, a seminar on
cooperation of cultural and creativity industries between Beijing
and Hong Kong, a forum on cooperation of financial services industry
under the framework of CEPA, a trade and investment fair on tourism.
And many members of the Association joined the above events.
The New Spring Liaison Party for Young
Executives of Business Circle
In February, Youth Committee of the Association
co-hosted a dinner party with youth organizations of other major
chamber of commerce. The party was officiated by Mr. Li Guikang,
Vice Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s
Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Xie Xiaoyan, Vice Commissioner of
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, the Honourable Patrick Ho,
Secretary for Home Affairs. And hundreds of young leaders and
executives from the chambers joined the great party.
Exchanges with Woman Organizations of Business
Circle
At the beginning of the year, Women Committee of
the Association co-organized a liaison party with the Hong Kong
Women Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association. At the function,
both sides briefed on its own and discussed some issues of economic
and trade exchanges, including Closer Economic and Partnership
Agreement between the Mainland and Hong Kong (CEAP), expressed the
hope to develop closer cooperative relations in future. In addition,
Women Committee of the Association also actively involved in and
made significant contributions to organizing the parties and
receptions in celebration of the 8th March International
Women Festival, and of the 57th Anniversary of the
Founding of the PRC, in partnership with other prominent women
organizations. Its active role attracted much attention form the
women community of Hong Kong.
Cooperation with the Federation of French
Industry and Trade in Hong Kong
In May, the Association and the Federation of
French Industry and Trade jointly held a liaison reception, and
members from both sides joined the function to explore business
cooperative opportunities.
Auti-Spam Seminars
To contain the ever increasing trash or junk
emails on the internet, the Association co-held two seminars with
Hong Kong Productivity Council on developing overall solutions and
discussing necessity of legislation, by joining hands with the
industrial and related professional communities. Some members of the
Association joined the seminars.
Joint Seminar on Going-out by Joining Hands by
the Mainland and Hong Kong Enterprises
In July, the Association co-organized with other
organizations in Shenzhen a seminar on discussing the possibilities
of exploring international market by joining efforts of enterprises
from the Mainland and Hong Kong, so as to effectively carry out the
Going-out Strategy. Among the attendees were officials from Ministry
of Commerce of the PRC, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s
Government in the HKSAR, the HKSAR Government, and Hong Kong Trade
Development Council, as well as prominent entrepreneurs from across
the Mainland and Hong Kong. The contents of seminar included sharing
experience in overseas investment, explaining related policies for
out-bound investment, and business matching.
Joint Evening Party of Business Societies of
Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta
In November, the Association joined hands with
Hong Kong Productivity Council and other main chambers of commerce
in Hong Kong to co-organize a grand joint evening party, together
with related industrial and commercial organizations of Guangdong,
aiming to reinforce the linkage among the business societies across
Pearl River Delta. The party was complementary with the 5th
Symposium on Development and Exchange of Industry and Technology
Across Pearl River Delta. The Association’s Vice Chairman Mr. Wang
Liaoping and some members joined the events.
The Exhibition and International Market Day
for SMEs
At the end of November, the International Market
Day for SMEs and Exhibition of Creativity Technologies and Design
grandly opened in Hong Kong, which attracted involvement of over 300
enterprises from the Mainland of China. The Association, as a
supporting organization, set up a booth on the exhibition to
showcase its services, and Vice Chairman Mr. Wang Liaoping attended
the opening ceremony of the events.
Exchanges with Macao Chinese Enterprises
To help member companies to explore business
opportunities in Macao booming market, the Association joined hands
with the Macao Chinese Enterprises Association, to help members of
the both sides forge closer cooperative relations. To this end, the
two associations co-hosted two sessions of business golf tournament
respectively in Zhuhai and Shenzhen.
SOCIAL AFFAIRS
The Election of Members of
the Election Committee
At the end of the year, the HKSAR held the
Election Committee Subsector Elections. As one of 38 subsectors of
the Election Committee, the Association actively involved in the
elections and organized nomination and election sessions with due
care among Chinese enterprises. Eventually, 11 members representing
the Association sub-sector were elected.
The Youth Grand Parade in
Expectation of the
Olympic Games 2008
Beijing
On 7 May, Youth Committee of the Association, as
a co-organizer, participated in a grand parade with the theme of
“the Olympic Games in Our Heart”. And more than 10,000 members from
over 80 youth societies joined the event to express their enthusiasm
to and expectation of the Olympic Games 2008 Beijing. The event also
included a large-scale artistic show and a carnival. And some
prominent figures were invited to be the guests of honour, among
them were Mr. Gao Siren, Director of the Liaison Office of the
Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Lu Xinhua,
Commissioner of Ministry of Foreign Trade of the PRC in the HKSAR,
the Honourable Wong Yan Lung, Secretary for Justice of the HKSARG,
the Honourable Arthur K. C. Li, Secretary for Education and
Manpower, the Honourable Patrick Ho, Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr.
Tsang Hin Chi, Member of Standing Committee of the National People’s
Congress as well as 7 Chinese champions of Olympic Games 2004
Athens. Over 200 representatives of the Association’s Youth
Committee joined the parade.
The Grand Parade in
Celebration of the 9th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return
to its Motherland
On 1 July, the Association, together with 18
influential organizations co-organized a grand parade in celebration
of the 9th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to its
motherland and the founding of the HKSAR Government, to showcasing
the expectation of constructing a harmonious and prosperous society.
The event attracted more than 40 thousand people to join with
colourful and joyful artistic shows. Under the guidance and
coordination of the Association, over 5000 staff and their families
of member companies took part in the parade.
Evening Party in
Celebration of the 57th Anniversary of the Founding of
the PRC and Firework Show
On the National Day, the Association jointly with
the Federation of Hong Kong Island Societies and four district
councils of Hong Kong Island, co-organized an evening party in
celebration of 57th anniversary of the PRC combined with
firework shows. The Association’s Vice Chairman Mr. Kong Qingping,
together with Mr. Zhou Junming, Vice Director of the Liaison Office
of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR and other guests of
honour, officiated the opening ceremony. The event consisted of
artistic performance, carnival and amusement booths. And over20,000
people including Chinese enterprises’ staff and their families
visited the carnival.
Holding Anti-Corruption
Talk
As always, the Association attaches great
importance to joining efforts with ICAC and other organizations to
help maintain a fair and clean business environment in Hong Kong. At
the beginning of the year, the Association, together with ICAC and
related department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s
Government in the HKSAR, held a seminar on promoting anti-corruption
norm with a large attendance of staff of Chinese enterprises.
Helping Young Generation
Enrich Understanding of the Motherland
In 2006, the Association co-organized a few
missions to the Mainland with related Youth Societies, such as a
mission to Fujian Province for study of logistics and finance, and a
mission to Jiangsu Province for military and cultural exchanges,
with the aim to help the participants to know more about the
Motherland as well as about the necessity of closer cooperation
between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Forum on Relationship
between Spiritual Civilization and Social Harmony
On 20 June, a large-scale forum on relationship
between spiritual civilization and social harmony was held on Hong
Kong. Mr. Wang Fengchao, Vice Director of the Liaison Office of the
Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, famous scientists and
prominent figures from religion community uncovered and criticized
the heterodoxy nature of Fa Lun Gong as well as its negative
implications on social harmony of Hong Kong. And the Association
join the efforts of Hong Kong Culture Association in co-organizing
the event.
Participating in the Wages
Protection Movement
In
October 2006, the Chief
Executive Donald Tsangannounced
in his Policy Address
that the Government
would join hands with the business community and labour sector to
launch the Wage Protection Movement (WPM),
with the aim to
protect the wage level of cleaning workers and security guards
through voluntary and non-legislative means.
To support the efforts, the Association
actively took part in Movement and called on member companies to
sign up consent forms so as to help carry out the policy and
received broad and active response.
Helping the Community of
the Disadvantaged and the Needed
As always, the Association actively involved in
promoting social charity undertaking. During the year, the
Association joined “Hong Kong and Kowloon Walk for Millions”
organized by the Community and made donations. The Association’s
Vice Chairman Mr. Wang Liaoping, Treasurer Mr. Lam Kwong-siu and
some Executive Ddirectors participated in the event. Some large-size
member companies joined the event with their own teams and
donations.
In addition, the Association, as a supporting
organization, participated in holding Lang Lang Piano Solo Charity
Concert, with its income to held the needed in the society.
EXCHANGES BETWEEN HONG KONG
AND THE MAINLAND
Helping to Sponsor
Economic and Trade Fairs
In 2006, the Association actively assisted local
government and other organizations to sponsor various economic and
trade activities in Hong Kong with the aim to support economic
construction on the Mainland, and was in total involved in over 70
events of various contents and forms, such as symposiums, forums,
media press, exhibitions and fairs, etc., among which were:
Symposium on Investment and Trade and Culture Showcasing Week of
Hebei Province, Tianjin Week in Hong Kong, Shandong-HK Economic and
Trade Cooperation Week, Showcasing and Symposium on Modern Service
Industries of Jiangsu Province in HK, Shanxi (HK) Investment Fair,
Briefing on Investment in Liaoning, etc. And the Association also
took part in some other meaningful events held by Mainland
organizations in Hong Kong, which were helpful in promotion of
internationalization of Chinese brands and corporate governance.
Receiving Delegations and
Trading Groups from the Mainland
The Association also received over 40 delegations
and groups from the Mainland for economic and trade purpose, and
provided necessary supporting services and suggestion to help them
broaden linkages with the local business community. In the meantime,
the Association also assisted some provincial localities to hold
economic training programmes in Hong Kong.
Luncheon for Welcoming the Visits by Ministers
and Governors
At the time of celebrating the 3rd
anniversary of the signing of CEPA between Hong Kong and the
Mainland, the Association hosted a high-level luncheon to welcome
the ministers and governors who were members of the delegation
headed by Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of National Committee of the
Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee. Among them were
leaders from National Reform and Development Commission, Ministry of
Construction, General Administration of Customs, Hunan Province,
Jiangxi Province, Beijing Municipal City, Fujian Province, Guizhou
Province, Hainan Province and Yunan Province. And over 20
office-bearers of the Association attended the luncheon and had a
close talk with the distinguished guests.
Receiving Members of NPC and CPPCC
In November, the Association held a luncheon
welcoming some members of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and
of National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative
Committee, who visited Hong Kong for a study programme.
Missions to the Mainland
In 2006, the Association organized 8 missions
back to the Mainland to attend national or regional economic and
trade activities, or conduct business study.
Mission to the 10th Investment &
Trade Fair for Cooperation between East & West China
The 10th Investment & Trade Fair for
Cooperation between East & West China opened in Xi’an in early
April, and the Association organized a mission headed by Vice
Chairman Mr. Wang Liaoping to the business event, which was
co-organized by related Ministries of the Central Government and 24
provinces and municipal cities, with the aim to boost cooperation
between East and West China. At the exhibition, the Association set
up an exhibition booth to promote the Association and Chinese
enterprises by pictures and document layouts. During the trip, the
mission paid a visit to related cities and also attended the 5th
Fair of Utilizing Foreign Investment in Western China.
The Mission to the 4th Fair of
Henan International Investment and Trade
Upon the invitation of Henan Provincial People’s
Government, the Association sent to mission to attend the 4th
Fair of Henan International Investment and Trade for which the
Association was a supporting organization. The delegation, with Mr.
Zheng Kunsheng, Vice Director of the Liaison Office of the Central
People’s Government in the HKSAR, as Advisor, attended the opening
ceremony and its reception, and held business negotiations with
local companies. And the principal leaders of the province specially
hosted a banquet in honour of the Association’s delegates.
Joint Mission to Chongqi Municipal City
In early April, the Association and Shenzhen
Municipal People Government jointly organized a large-scale
delegation to Chongqing, and were cordially received by the local
government. During their trip, they made field tours to major
container ports and proposed development zones, and also joined some
business negotiations with local enterprises, making the visit very
fruitful.
Mission to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Upon the invitation of the People’s Government of
Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Association’s delegation with
over 30 members paid a business visit to the region. Ms Guo Li, Vice
Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in
the HKSAR was invited to join as senior advisor. They were cordially
received by major leaders of the local government, and visited some
economic development zones and prominent local enterprises and held
several business matching meetings and conversaziones with local
firms.
Mission to
the 10th China Investment &
Trade Fair
Upon invitation from the organizing committee of
the 10th China Investment & Trade Fair, the Association
sent a mission to the business event. At the opening ceremony, Vice
Premier Ms Wu Yi made a theme speech. And up to 10,000 businessmen
from 100 countries and regions, and delegates from individual
provinces and cities, joined the fair. During the fair, the
Association’s mission attended the opening ceremony and welcome
evening party, as well as some forums and seminars, and they also
met up with Mr. Liao Xiaoqi, Vice Minister of Minister of Commerce.
In addition, the Association organized
delegations to join the 100th China Import and Export
Commodities Fair, and 9-plus-2 Pan Pearl River Delta Economic and
Trade Cooperation Fair held in Yunnan where they attended the
general meeting of trade development organizations in the Pan Pear
River Delta to broaden the cooperation network.
Assisting the HKSARG to
Bring More Mainland Companies to HK
Organizing Lunar New Year Cocktail with the
InvestHK
To reinforce the linkages between the Association
and the InvestHK of HKSAR, and encourage more enterprises from
Mainland to invest in Hong Kong, the tow sides jointly hosted a New
Spring cocktail on 10 February. And Ms Guo Li, Vice Director of the
Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, and
the Honourable Joseph Wong, Secretary
for Commerce,
Industry and Technology,
Mr. Wang Bingxin, Director General of Economic Affairs Department of
the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR,
were invited to the function as guests of honour. And the
Association’s Chairman Dr. Qin Xiao, Vice Chairman Mr. Kong
Qingping, Mr. Liu Guoyuan and Mr. Wang Liaoping, Executive Director
Mr. Sun Zhongren, attended the reception with over 200
representatives of Chinese enterprises.
Other Investment Promotion Activities
During the year, the Association also assisted
InvestHK in holding investment promotion events on the Mainland to
promote in-bound investment from the Mainland, including the Day for
Invest in HK, and Seminar on How Guangdong Enterprises Using HK as a
Spring Board to International Market.
SERVING MEMBER COMPANIES
Strengthening
Sub-Committees’ Function of Serving Members
In 2006, the Association newly set up 5
sub-committees to meet up the requirements of member companies,
namely, Committee on Human Resources, Committee of Enterprises from
Guangdong, Committee on Iron and Steel Industry, Committee on Hotel
and Catering Industry, Committee on Air Transportation. In addition,
the Association also made preparation for adjusting the rest
sub-committees with an aim to bring their role into fuller play.
The individual sub-committees provided service to
members in their respective sectors or professions, and played
considerably good role in promoting inter-exchange and cooperation.
For instance, Committee on Financial and Accounting Affairs Steering
Committee held several training programmes with a focus on the new
accounting system to be effective in Hong Kong, and sponsored quite
a few luncheons in partnership with local professional bodies, and
organized to missions to Taiwan to exchange with local enterprises.
And Committee on Building Industry organized an annual seminar on
market for building and construction companies, as well as some
field tour to construction projects of member companies to share
experience on project management. And Committee on Hotel and
Catering Industry held a seminar on Chinese culture and hotel
management right after its founding to improve comprehensive
operative efficiency.
Talks, Training Programmes
and Seminars
The Association continuously organized various
kinds of training service for member companies, including talks,
seminars and field tours, and invited scholars, experts to present
their observations and views on important or focus issues. And the
above mentioned activities mainly included Seminar on the Eleventh
Five-Year National Development Plan and Fresh Opportunities for Hong
Kong Chinese Enterprises, Seminar on Observations of HK and Mainland
Stock Market and the Strategies of Investment and Financing for
Chinese Enterprises, Training Programmes on General Legal Concepts
for Executives of Chinese Enterprises, Luncheon on Enterprise
Resources Programmes, and Field Tours to Hong Kong Science Park,
etc.
Business Information
Service
The Association continued to provide economic and
commercial information to member companies via winfax, website and
some internal circulars, and also assist them in collecting market
information by organizing them to take part in various economic and
trade activities, such as seminars, policy briefings, etc.
Business Matching and
Business Promotion Services
The Association was devoted to foster the linkage
and cooperation among member companies, including project
partnership, product or service promotion as well as helping settle
commercial disputes. In addition, the Association took an active
role to lobby the government to resolve the immigration problem
encountered by member companies’ staff from the Mainland.
Exploring Overseas Market
Mission to
the 11th
Macao International Trade and Investment Fair
Upon invitation of
Macao Investment Promotion Bureau,
Mr. Sun Hengshan, Vice President of the Association, headed a
delegation to the 11th
Macao International Trade and Investment Fair
organized by China and Portugal Countries Economic Cooperation Forum.
Delegation to North Europe
To help member companies to capitalize overseas
market, the Association organized a delegation to Finland, Norway,
Sweden, Danmark from 27 June to 5 July. With Executive Director, Mr.
Wang Mingcai as the Head, and Mr. Wang Bingxin, Director General of
Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central
People’s Government in the HKSAR, as Adviser, the delegation paid
visits to related government agencies and commercial associations of
the countries, as well as field tour to headquarters of Nokia and
Ericsson. Through the visit, the delegates had a better
understanding about local business environment of the two countries.
Mission to
East Europe
In September, the Association’s
Vice Chairman Mr. Wang Liaoping
headed a mission with
Hungary, Czech and Poland, which
was welcomed by related governments
and business chambers.
During the visit,
the delegates joined some
ad hoc
briefings
and liaison
functions with
local enterprises.
The delegates also held conversaziones with local Chinese
enterprises to share their business experience in the countries.
Fostering Corporate
Culture
The 2nd Sports Day of the
Association
On 10 December, the Association held a 2nd
sports day at the Siu Sai Wan Sporting Centre. And 23 Chinese
enterprises and Commissioner’s Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of the PRC, with 700 participants joined the contests, and over 4000
staff of Chinese enterprises attended the opening ceremony and
watched the contests.
Among the honourable guests were Mr. Liu Junmin,
Executive Vice
President of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the
XXIX Olympiad,
Ms Guo Li, Deputy Directors of Liaison Office of
the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Ming Junfu, Deputy
Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the
HKSAR. And Chairman Mr. Qin Xiao, some other office-bearers of the
Association, together with leaders of influential Chinese
enterprises also attended the opening ceremony and watched the
contests.
Through fierce competition, Bank of China (Hong
Kong) Limited won the championship in terms of collectives points,
and China Travel Services (H. K.) Holdings Ltd, COSCO (Hong Kong)
Group and Shanghai Industrial Investment Holdings Ltd as the 1st
runner up, the 2nd runner up and the 3rd
runner up respectively.
“Chinese Enterprise Cup” Bowling Championship
In March, the Association organized a large-scale
bowling contest and over 180 representatives from member companies
joined, including a guest team from the Liaison Office of the
Central People’s Government in the HKSAR. Mr. Wang Hui, Deputy
Director of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the
Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Wang Liaoping, Vice
Chairman of the Association, and Mr. Yuen Mo, Executive Director of
the Association witnessed the final and attended the awarding
ceremony. Among the winner teams are Bank of China (Hong Kong),
China Overseas Holdings Ltd, Chiyu Banking Corporation Ltd. And a
few local media joined the event as co-organizers.
A Special Arts Show
As one of the serial events in celebration of its
15th anniversary, the Association invited Tibetan Arts
Troupe to hold an evening party for members. The party, with strong
national characteristic elegance, was warmly welcomed. Some high
rank officials from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s
Government in the HKSAR, leaders of the Association joined the
function with hundreds of staff of member companies.

The 15th Anniversary and New Spring Reception
In February, the Association hosted the 15th
Anniversary and new spring reception to liaison friends, old and
new. And the Honourable Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the HKSAR,
Mr. Gao Siren, Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s
Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Zheng Kunsheng and Ms Guo Li, Deputy
Directors of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in
the HKSAR, Mr. Xie Xiaoyan, Deputy Commissioner of Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the HKSAR, the Honourable Henry Tang,
Financial Secretary of the HKSARG, were invited to officiate the
ceremony. Office-bearers and Directors of the Association joined the
function with over 700 guests, among them were heads of related
departments of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in
the HKSAR and Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of PRC in the HKSAR, high-rank officials of the HKSARG,
officers from consulates general of foreign countries in Hong Kong,
leaders of foreign chambers of commerce, and representatives of
member companies.
Chairman Dr. Qin Xiao addressed at the ceremony.
He appreciated for care and support delivered the Association by
people of various circles, and expressed that the Association would
keep devoted to promote stability and prosperity of Hong Kong.
In alignment with the theme of the reception, the
Association made a video slip about what the Association and member
companies had done for Hong Kong. CCTV and other influential media
also made detailed introduction on reform and development of the
Association’s member companies and their contribution to the
communities.
Special General Meeting
and Annual General Meeting
In August, the Association held a special general
meeting and passed a special resolution on amendments of the
Association’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.
Right after the special general meeting, the
Annual General Meeting 2005-2006 was held, and most office-bearers
of the 8th term of office and nearly 200 representatives
of member companies attended. The general meeting passes the annual
working report and financial report and decided to invite Mr. Chen
Xinhua, Mr. Wang Mingquan, Mr. Feng Xiaozeng, Mr. He Guangbei, Mr.
Che Shujian, Mr. Zhang Xuewu, and Mr. Cai Laixing as the
Association’s Honourary Chairmen, and elected 91 members of
Directors the Board Directors of the Ninth
Term of Office.
At the First Session of the Board Directors of
the Ninth Term of Office right after the general meeting, 29
executive directors were elected. They were: Mr. Qin Xiao, Mr. Gao
Yingxin, Mr. Chen Shulin, Mr. Xiong Weiping, Mr. Li Wenyue, Mr. Kong
Qingping, Mr. Lin Fan, Mr. Liu Guoyuan, Mr. Wang Liaoping, Mr. Zang
Qiutao, Mr. Yi Xiqun, Mr. Lam Kwong Siu, Mr. Wang Mingcai, Mr. Wang
Rongfeng, Mr. Zhu Qi, Ms Xin Fanfei, Ms Li Xiaolin, Mr. Li Qiuhong,
Mr. Wu Zhongxiao, Mr. Hu Aimin,
Mr. Yang Dongcheng, Mr. Yuen Mo, Mr. Sun Zhongren, Mr. Ou Bingchang,
Mr. Zhang Xianlin, Mr. Zhao Liqiang, Mr. Zhao Bin, Mr. Liu Jifu, Mr.
Xue Zhiming.
And at the first meeting of Board of Executive
Directors of the Ninth Term of Office, Mr. Qin Xiao was elected as
Chairman, and Mr. Gao Yingxin, Mr. Chen Shulin, Mr. Xiong Weiping,
Mr. Li Wenyue, Mr. Kong Qingping, Mr. Lin Fan, Mr. Liu Guoyuan, Mr.
Wang Liaoping, Mr. Zang Qiutao, Mr. Yi Xiqun as Chairmen, and Mr.
Lam Kwong Siu as Treasurer.
After the election, Mr. Zheng Kunsheng, Deputy
Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the
HKSAR was invited to address the attendees.
The Board of Executive Directors
In 2006, the
Association held 9 executive meetings to discuss important affairs
in the Association.
